Ingredients:

  • 500g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 50g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 10g (2 tsp) salt
  • 20g (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 6 large eggs
  • 250g (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 250ml (1 cup) milk, warm
  • 1 egg, for egg wash

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast and mix well.
  2. Add eggs and warm milk to the dry ingredients and mix to form a dough. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Gradually add softened butter, one tablespoon at a time, kneading until incorporated. The dough will be sticky.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp towel and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch the dough down and divide it into the desired number of portions. Shape into rolls or a loaf and place in a greased baking pan.
  6. Let the dough rise for another hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the top of the dough with the egg wash.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Let it cool before serving.
